Why risk management? PDF Print E-mail

Risk Management is a practical way of identifying and fixing risks.

It attempts to address potential problems areas before they occur, creating a safer environment.

Risk Management Framework- Where does SafeClub fit in?

Sport Safety

SafeClub follows the risk management approach outlined in the Australian Standard on Risk Management AS/NZS 4360 and the Guidelines for Managing Risk in Sport and Recreation.

SafeClub fits in with NSW Sport and Recreation’s approach to risk management and complements the Running Your Club program by focusing specifically on the risks on and off the field or court in the physical sporting environment.

NSW Sport and Recreation are encouraging clubs and associations who have completed Running Your Club to take the next step and complete SafeClub training.

Why risk management for sports injury prevention?

The benefit of the risk management approach used in SafeClub is the flexibility it allows clubs. Our work with community sports clubs has shown that the safety issues of concern vary significantly from club to club. SafeClub has been developed to allow clubs to identify and reduce their own individual injury risks.  Unlike other approaches, risk management does not require a club to deal with any particular safety issue. Instead it assists clubs to identify the safety issues that are the biggest risk to that club, and address these - one step at a time.
